Description of Learning Environment for Students:
Georgetown University, founded in 1789, is one of the oldest universities in America. Offering unparalleled access to global business, policy and thought leaders, the Robert Emmett McDonough School of Business is seated at one of the nation's most prestigious universities in one of the world's most influential cities. The Georgetown MBA Program develops leaders capable of making complex business decisions in a global environment and who are dedicated to serving their companies, society and humanity. Students gain solid grounding in all core management disciplines, with an emphasis on the global, ethical and political environment of business. Our commitment to understanding international business is demonstrated by the global curricula, the strong presence of international students (more than one-third), and the opportunities provided to study business and management in other parts of the world.

For more than 215 years, Georgetown University has welcomed aspiring leaders to its campus along the banks of the Potomac River. The campus is an oasis within an exciting city and conveniently located to all of Washington, D.C. Georgetown is one of the city's liveliest and most engaging neighborhoods. Known for its distinctive brand of energy and style, the city is home to museums, monuments, world-class culture and big-time sports.

The MBA program is located in the historic Car Barn, a modern facility named for its origin as a streetcar depot. The Car Barn is nestled among row houses in the picturesque Georgetown neighborhood, just two blocks from the main campus gates. Students enjoy dedicated study and meeting spaces, student lounge areas and a wireless network providing access to instructional and technical services. In early 2009, a new state-of-the-art facility on main campus will unite the graduate and undergraduate programs under one roof.

Academics and Student Body:
Georgetown MBA provides a general management framework in accounting, decision sciences, economics, finance, marketing, and management. The curriculum is organized into intensive team-based experiences, courses that integrate various functional areas, and electives. Students may choose courses according to individual interests and career goals and also pursue summer internships or study abroad programs. All students are required to undertake a foreign residency, the Global Integrative Experience, in which teams conduct consulting projects for international companies and present their recommendations to top managers at their places of business abroad. Recent locations have included Dubai, Ho Chi Minh City, Johannesburg, Prague and Sao Paulo.

With an emphasis on global business, innovation, and ethical decision-making, Georgetown MBA faculty prepare students to be leaders of the future. Georgetown's tradition of strong student-faculty interaction is illustrated by the faculty accessibility and involvement - collaborating on research projects, advising student organizations, and assisting in career decision-making.

Teamwork, cooperation and friendly competition are emphasized. Because classes are smaller, students develop close relationships with one another, Faculty and administrators. This atmosphere of easy camaraderie extends to an active social life, both on Georgetown's campus and in Washington, D.C. The Georgetown MBA Program is comprised of a broad cross-section of students from more than 45 nations, with diverse backgrounds covering a wide-range of professional sectors and undergraduate academic majors. Each year, approximately 250 students enter the MBA Full-Time Program.

Career Services and Placement:
The MBA Career Management Center is an invaluable resource for Georgetown MBA students. The Center has two core functions-career advising/counseling services and recruiting/employer relations-which benefit students in distinct but complimentary ways. Students have access to career counseling services, topical workshops, resume/cover letter critiques, mock interviews, and more. Students also benefit from on-campus employer presentations and interviews for internships and full-time employment as well as 24-hour access to job posting from employers seeking Georgetown MBA applicants. Whether transitioning out of the military or moving up the chain of command, the MBA Career Management Center can prepare you for your next career opportunity.
