Description of Learning Environment for Students:
The Clemson MBA's learning environment is open and interactive. It draws on the rich work experiences and varied backgrounds of the students and professors. Classes are taught through diverse learning approaches including role playing, simulations, internet-based work, internships, consulting, teamwork, and case studies.

Faculty:
Clemson's business faculty hold outstanding credentials and are recognized by their peers and industry leaders for contributions in their field. Ninety-six percent have a Ph.D. in their teaching discipline; 91 percent have published in top business journals or presented at national conferences. The Clemson business faculty have been honored with national awards for research and teaching, served as editors of major scholarly journals, directed the school's five research centers and served as Fulbright Scholars.

Accomplishments/Recognition:
  • The Spiro Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership has over the past 10 years developed education, research and service programs that touch students in all colleges, engage faculty from a variety of disciplines, extend the work of the university to the community through project-based activities with inventors, entrepreneurs, and established companies. Many of these projects are conducted by MBA students.
  • Dr. Aleda Roth, Burlington Industries Chair of Supply Chain Management, was named Operations Management Scholar of the Year by the Academy of Management.
  • Dr. Varun Grover, William S. Lee Distinguished Professor of Information Systems, received the Stan Hardy Award for "Examining the Impact of Interorganizational Systems on Process Efficiency and Sourcing Leverage in Buyer-Supplier Dyads."
  • Frances Kennedy, Professor of Accounting, received the International Federation of Accountants' Award of Merit for her distinguished contribution to the field of finance and management. Dr. Kennedy also received the Institute of Management Accounting's Lybrand Silver Medal for outstanding contributions to management accounting literature.
  • Dr. Daniel Benjamin, Professor of Economics, was named Distinguished Alumni Professor of Economics.
  • Dr. John Warner, Professor of Economics, was nominated for the Eugene G. Fubini Award for exceptional contributions to the U.S. Defense Department, in recognition of his research.
  • Dr. Terry Leap's, Professor of Management, views on white collar crime were headlined in The Greenville News. Dr. Leap's upcoming book, Dishonest Dollars: The Dynamics of White-Collar Crime was released in early 2007.
  • Dr. Xizbo Hu, Professor of Political Science, was a Visiting Senior Fellow at the University of Wollongong, a top Australian university where he continued his research on privatization and the rising middle class in China.
Military:
As a Military Friendly school we:
  • Waive the application fee for requesting military personnel who have been on active duty within three years prior to applying.
  • Grant in-state tuition to military personnel who have official orders assigning them to a South Carolina location.
  • Make financial aid available to aid-qualified military personnel who have transitioned from the service in the two years prior to enrollment.
  • Provide a one-year deferment to admitted military students' who are delayed by their service branch.

Within the past year, three individuals, one Army and two National Guard, graduated with a Clemson MBA. The current class of MBA students includes two individuals with a military background, both Army.
